Statement by Ambassador Tacan İldem, Permanent Representatıve of Turkey, in response to the Report by Ambassador Madina Jarbussynova, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, at the 955th Permanent Council

Tacan İLDEM 06.06.2013
I would like to join the previous speakers in warmly welcoming Ambassador
Jarbussynova, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine, back to the Permanent Council and thank her for her report.

Turkey supports the projects carried out by the Project Co-ordinator in all three OSCE dimensions. We are satisfied to see the continuation of the close cooperation with the authorities of the host country.

The report highlights the demand-driven aspect of many projects carried out where
projects are requested by various official Ukrainian actors, such as the Ministry of Defence, the State Emergency Service, the Security Service, Ministry of Education and Science, State Environmental Inspectorate, Financial Intelligence Unit, Supreme Court, Higher Administrative Court, National School of Judges, Ombudsman and others.

The list of interlocutors shows the diversity and large extent of the stakeholders
involved in the Project Co-ordinator’s work. We have also learned with interest from the latest OSCE Annual Report, the impressive number of recipients of trainings given by the Project Co-ordinator, including civil society partners.

The wide range of projects that are being carried out leads us to believe that the
Project Co-ordinator model can be a cost-effective and useful mechanism for promoting implementation of OSCE commitments. We are pleased to see positive results achieved by the fruitful cooperation between the Ukrainian authorities and Project Co-ordinator across all three dimensions.

We also take this opportunity to reiterate our firm support for Ukraine’s EU
integration process and its partnership with Euro-Atlantic structures.

In conclusion, we would like to thank Ambassador Jarbussynova and her able team
and wish every success in their endeavours.

Thank you.
